UKRAINIAN ECONOMIC REVIEW
Ukraine attained political independence in 1991. Its economy is presently
undergoing the transition from a planned to a free
market system with all the concomitant problems. Once the present
difficulties have been overcome, given its various
advantages -- relatively large population, including a highly skilled
labor force, abundant natural resources, and a favorable
location--this young country is destined to play an important role in the
world economy.
The purpose of launching the Ukrainian Economic Review by the
International Ukrainian Economic Association and
co-sponsored by the Institute of Economics, National Academy of Sciences
of Ukraine, Kyiv, and Deparment of Economics,
Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is to offer an
English-language forum for the publication of theoretical and
applied research on topics realted to all aspects of this economic in the
past and the resent. Contributions to microeconomics,
macroeconomics, econometrics, coparative economic systems, economies of
Eastern Europe, and transition economics are
welcome as well. Thus, the journal should be of particular interest to
members of the profession, in academe and outside
throughout the world.
We invite interested scholars to submit their articles or book reviews to the journal and hope that these contributions will
promote a better understanding of the issues relevant to the UER's purpose, benefit the authors, and ensure the success of the
journal.
