Greetings from "The New Ukrainian Wave" on the 18th Anniversary of Ukrainian Independence
Dear Fellow Citizens!
We congratulate you on the occasion of the celebration of Ukrainian Independence Day - the most important holiday of the nation, which our people have awaited for centuries, offering the lives of millions of its best sons and daughters who fought for freedom and independence of our homeland.
We, Ukrainians, who live and work in the United States, have the opportunity to see and experience both the cost and the rewards of freedom which is symbolically portrayed by the Statue of Liberty and can be seen from an aircraft approaching America from the East.
We want to see our homeland, Ukraine, similarly prosperous and free. On the eve of the 18th anniversary of Ukrainian Independence, we again feel danger moving toward our land. The aggressive tone of the letter from Russian President Dmitrij Medvedev to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, is a strong message indicating that freedom and independence of our homeland, its future, and the future of our people are again at risk.
On the other hand, the balanced, tolerant tone of Viktor Yushchenko's letter to the Dmitrij Medvedev, reflects the culture and way of thinking of the Ukrainian people, who at the beginning of their independence in 1991, abandoned nuclear weapons letting the world know that we never have been nor do we wish to be an aggressor nation. Today, Ukraine sees as its mission building peace and maintaining good neighborly relations with all nations.
Currently President Viktor Yushchenko, is directing all his efforts to return to our people their historical memory, to re-establish the Ukrainian language on all Government levels, and to protect our national interests, without which the country cannot exist.
Today there is no country in which there are no Ukrainians. Our voice is a voice of millions and millions of Ukrainians scattered around the world. It will be heard if we unite all our efforts toward the highest goal - Freedom and Independence of Ukraine.
Dear Ukrainians! Let us be united in our efforts to support the prosperity and happiness of our people and our Motherland.

з нагоди 18-ї річниці незалежності України
Дорогі співвітчизники!
Вітаємо Вас з Днем Незалежності України — із найбільшим святом нації, до якого наш народ ішов століттями, віддавши у жертву цій великій перемозі мiльйони своїх кращих синів і дочок, які боролися за волю і незалежність нашої Батьківщини, і не шкодували свого життя во ім'я цієї великої перемоги.
Ми українці, які живемо і працюємо на теренах Сполучених Штатів Америки, як ніхто інший, маємо можливість відчути ціну свободи. Її, уособлену у бронзі, бачимо ще з ілюмінатора літака, наближаючись до землі Вашингтона.
Такою ж багатою, заможною і вільною ми хочемо бачити і нашу Батьківщину Україну. Та напередодні 18-ої річниці її Незалежності нам знову дали відчути у якій великій небезпеці наша земля. Aгресорський тон листа Президента Росії Дмітрія Мeдвeдєва до Президента України Віктора Ющенка — це серйозний сигнал про те, що свобода і незалежність нашої Батьківщини, її майбутнє, a, отже, і майбутнє всього нашого народу — у небезпеці.
Виважений, толерантний тон листа-відповіді Президента України Віктора Ющенка Президенту Росії Дмiтрію Мeдвeдєву відзеркалює культуру і спосіб мислення всьoго нашого народу, який на початку своєї незалежності, у 1991 році, відмовився від ядерної зброї. Тим самим уже тоді було задекларовано, що Україна бачить свою місію у будівництві миру і добросусідства з усіма народами.
Цю політику послідовно втілює в життя теперішній Президент України Віктор Ющенко, спрямовуючи свої зусилля на повернення народу історичної пам'яті, без якої немає нації; на утвердження української мови, без якої немає народу; на захист національних інтересів, без яких немає держави.
Сьогодні у світі немає країни, де б не проживали українці. Наш голос — це голос багатомільйонної нації. Він буде почутий, якщо ми згуртуємо свої сили задля найвищої цілі — Свободи і Незалежності нашої Держави.
Toж гуртуймося, дорогі українці, заради добра і щастя нашого народу і нашої Вітчизни — України.
