Ukrainian language textbook of modern surgery - Website launch
New York, October 26 Dr. Jaroslav K. Turkalo, a well-respected surgeon from New Haven, Connecticut is pleased to announce the launching of a very unique bi-lingual medical website. This new website, www.turkalo.org introduces an unparalleled work of medical documentation, a soon to be published textbook on surgery.
Surprisingly, there is no complete textbook on surgery written in Ukrainian. The vast majority of the medical society within Ukraine today believes this extensive body of work is not required. The prevailing belief is that the Russian surgical books are adequate sources of reference. This ten volume work written in both English and Ukrainian is an essential textbook tracing the history of surgery, chronicling the most important advances over the past 2000 years as well as describing the most up-to-date surgical techniques.
This textbook is the work of Dr. Turkalo who has devoted the last 40 years researching and writing this vast resource of medical knowledge. “I feel this textbook needed to be written because there has never been one concise body of work summarizing the entire field of surgery”. Dr.Turkalo goes on to say “this textbook is essential for enlarging and enriching the medical knowledge for both the practicing physician and the medical student alike”. Many leading surgeons, including Owen H. Wangensteen, M.D, has acknowledged Dr. Turkalo's work. Dr. Wangensteen, the Dean of American Surgery of the 20th century, cited this as a monumental effort.
