Children of Chornobyl Canadian Fund continues to send aid
Nineteen years later Children Of Chornobyl Canadian Fund continues to provide much needed aid and assistance to the victims of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster. The latest installment involves the shipment of $384,000.00CAD worth of medical equipment to hospitals in three regions of Ukraine: Ivankiw, Kyiv and Lviv. This shipment coincides with the XIX anniversary of the world's worst nuclear disaster at Chornobyl on April 26th, 1986.
Ivankiw, located 35 km from the Chornobyl reactor, is the primary site where inhabitants of towns and villages located in the Chornobyl region were relocated following the reactor's explosion. The consequences of radiation have become more evident in the last few years, and the Ivankiw regional hospital, which services 34,722 inhabitants, does not have all the necessary equipment to diagnose and treat some of these conditions. In the previous year there were 959 deaths and 236 births, and 129 individuals were newly diagnosed with cancers. Diagnostic and medical equipment weighing 2,400 kg is being shipped by CCCF to Ivankiw, including neonatal incubators, an ophthalmoscope and otoscope, spirometers, tonometers, stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, respirator masks, safety glasses, medical gowns, syringes, bandages, laboratory supplies, wheelchairs and walkers.
In Kyiv the Laboratory of Immunology at the Institute of traumatology and orthopedics will receive an Olympus diagnostic microscope, which will allow them to conduct immunological tests on children and adults to diagnose bone illnesses secondary to radiation exposure.
Eight 'state-of-the-art' incubators are being delivered to two neonatal hospitals in Lviv to help facilitate the survival of premature infants.
The Children Of Chornobyl Canadian fund was able to purchase medical equipment for our various projects through the generosity of our many individual donors, including the Kilimanjaro project undertaken by Bohdanna Zvonok of Montreal.
In addition the following individuals, organizations, and companies donated medical equipment and supplies for shipment to Ukraine: Yalenka Society of BC, International H.O.P.E from Winnipeg, Ola Lysyk and volunteers from Oshawa, Hospital Logistics INC. and Kevin Demerchant.
We thank all our supporters for enabling our organization to help the victims suffering from the consequences of the Chornobyl disaster.

Допомога Чорнобилю продовжується
Дев'ятнадцять років, які минули з часу чорнобильської катастрофи, Канадський Фонд Дітям Чорнобиля відзначає організацією відправки в Україну медичного обладнання та матеріалів на суму $384,000.00 CAD. Це обладнання було відправлено в три міста: Іванків, Київ і Львів.
Іванків, розташований за 35 км від Чорнобильського реактора, був першим пристановищем для переселенців після вибуху реактора.
Протягом останніх п'яти років наслідки радіаціїї стали відчутнішими. Іванківська центральна районна лікарня, яка обслуговує населення кількістю 34, 722 чол не є обладнана необхідною діагностичною та лікувальною апаратурою.
За минулий рік померло 959чол., а народилося 236, у 129 було виявлено ракові зхворювання. Канадський Фонд Дітям Чорнобиля відправив у Іванків контейнер з медичним обладнанням вагою 2, 400 кг, куди увійшли неонатальні інкубатори, офтальмоскоп, отоскоп, спірометри, тонометри, стетоскопи, прилади для вимірювання тиску, респіраторні маски, захисні медичні окуляри, медичні халати, шприци, перев'язочний матеріал, лабораторне обладнання, інвалідні коляски і ходулі.
Київська лабораторія імунології при інституті травматології і ортопедії одержить діагностичний мікроскоп "Olympus", який дасть змогу покращити результати імунологічних тестів у дітей і дорослих при лікуванні кісткових захворювань.
Вісім неонатальних інкубаторів відправлено у дві дитячі клініки Львова, щоб допомогти виходжувати недоношених малят.
Канадський Фонд Дітям Чорнобиля зміг закупити медичне обладнання тільки завдяки щедрості наших багатьох жертводавців, особливо Богдані Звонок з Монреалю, яка підкорила вершину Кіліманджаро і гроші, зібрані на цей проект, передала в Фонд.
