2.33% of Ukraine uncounted votes may make all the difference for frontrunners Yanukovych and Yushchenko

The two frontrunners in the 2004 presidential election are in a statistical dead heat
with an insignificant difference in tallies as the ballot count reaches 97.67%
of the total - 39.88% for Viktor Yanukovych and 39.22% for opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko.
The nearly even split between the two can widen only marginally as the Central Elections Commission adds up the
last 2.33%, but the final count may be significant enough to claim a political victory in the first round.
Since neither candidate received the requisite 50%+1 votes, a second round has been scheduled to take place on November 21, 2004.
