ODE TO THE BRAIN
by Victoria Stakh, 1991
My brain's in pain.
My brain's a clenched muscle.
My brain's stuck in the crowd.
My brain's an angry beehive.
My brain flies between the balconies on the block.
Alone.
In the city.
No gal.
No oxygen.
It's been hung out to dry on the clothes line.
And the housekeeper is about to iron it.
Maybe, now it will be of some use
...my brain...
...my world...
...my intellect and mind...
...my... mass mind...
...my
...strung out...
...brain...
