Yara Arts Group from La MaMa Experimental Theatre in New York and Old Time Music from the Carpathians
For over 20 years Yara creates theatre pieces based on contemporary poetry and traditional music. Artistic Director Virlana Tkacz presents photos and videos from shows and talks about collaborations with musicians from the Buryat Republic, Kyrgyzstan and the Carpathians. Mykola Ilyuk, Ostap Kostiuk, Vasyl Tychuk, Ivan and Mykola Zelenchuk perform music from the Carpathians

Yara Arts Group: Transforming Ukrainian Poetry into Theatre in New York
bilingual (English-Ukrainian) presentation with images & video from Yara's theatre with appearances by:
Kateryna Babkina, Oleh Lysheha, Victor Neborak, Yurko Pozaiak and Virlana Tkacz
Yara has created 25 theatre pieces at the world renowned La MaMa Experimental Theatre in New York where Yara is a resident company. This presentation by artistic director Virlana Tkacz will explore how Yara has used Ukrainian poetry as text for its performances since 1990. The presentation will include images and video from Yara shows and live bilingual (Ukrainian and English) readings of the poem by poets and artists, including poets Kateryna Babkina, Oleh Lysheha and Victor Neborak.
