On the Waves is a shadow puppet show, based on the true story of Manjiro Nakahama. 1841 - Japan is closed. Nobody can enter or leave the country under the penalty of death. The incredible journey of a 14 year old Japanese boy, shipwrecked on deserted island, and rescued by American whaling ship.
This program was made possible with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the Coca-Cola Company and Yara Arts Group.
