ALLA ZAGAYKEVYCH is a Ukrainian composer who has been called  "... a sound artist, a transformer and creator of sounds extraordinary.”  Her work combines traditional and synthesized sounds into contemporary multidisciplinary projects, award-winning film scores, installations, and performances. 
 
As member of the Drevo Folk Ensemble since 1986, Alla researched and performed the ritual music of Polissia, then went on to study composition and electronic music at the National Music Conservatory in Kyiv and at Institute IRCAM in Paris. Since the mid-1990s she has been a leading proponent of electronic music in Ukraine, a curator on many international projects and often appears at international festivals. She performs with the electronic music group Electroacoustical Ensemble. In 2001 she received the Revutsky Award for her chamber opera “Numbers and Wind” and in 2004 she was awarded the Dovzhenko National Award for the music for the film “Mamay,” Ukraine’s nominee for an Academy Award.
 
Alla Zagaykevych is a frequent collaborator with New York's Yara Arts Group.  She created the music for Yara’s Raven (2011) and Dream Bridge (2012) and performed it in Kyiv, Lviv and New York, and is currently working on the music for Fire Water Night, opening June 6th at La MaMa.
