Yara celebrates a great year!

Dear Friends,

This has been another great year for Yara. Last January we celebrated our 25th anniversary with an exhibit at the Ukrainian Museum in New York. In March we performed Hitting Bedrock, a very powerful and timely theatre piece about the war in eastern Ukraine, at La MaMa. In May a translation we did of a poem by Serhiy Zhadan was featured at the Venice Biennale, and we presented Home East, a site specific architectural installation at the Ukrainian Institute of America. In June, I traveled to Ukraine to work on Home=Ev, our project with Crimean Tatars.

This December we celebrated Koliada again with concerts in New York, San Francisco and at Wesleyan University.

If you happen to be in Kyiv in January, you can catch an open rehearsal of Home= Ev. In February you can see our exhibit, Yara 25 Years of Theatre in Ukraine, at the Museum of Theatre, Music and Film in Kyiv. In March we will be working on a new piece based on the poetry of Pavlo Tychyna with Serhiy Zhadan and his band Dogs.

Save the date -- see us at La MaMa on New York June 2-19, 2016.Watch for our next newsletter, where you can catch up with us and learn more about our projects for the spring. Please help us continue our work with a gift.

Donations from individual donors, like you, help us create splendid events in New York, Ukraine and around the world. A gift of $60 pays for copies of the script; $120 pays for a costume; and $1000 provides international transportation for one artist. Your contribution is fully tax-deductible.

We deeply appreciate your support and hope to see you at our shows. For more information see our website

Best for the New Year and see you soon
