Yara celebrates a great season!

Dear Friends,

We just had another great season! In December we celebrated Koliada with Midwinter Night in Toronto, featuring the Koliadnyky and the Lemon Bucket Orkestra. The Koliadnyky also appeared at Ukrainian churches and venues in Toronto and opened a Koliada inspired exhibit at the Bezpala-Brown Gallery.

In January we created Light & Shadows: Yara's Winter Festival of New Art, Music, Poetry and Performance at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York. In February we presented Capt. John Smith Goes to Ukraine at La MaMa.

We also started work on Dark Night Bright Stars, our show about the friendship between Taras Shevchenko and the great African American actor, Ira Aldridge. This spring we toured Odesa, Lviv and Kyiv with this show to raves by critics and audiences. You can see it at La MaMa in February 2015!

In May we opened We Are All Ukraine: Art by Waldemart Klyuzko from Kyiv that featured posters we brought to demonstations in support of Maidan. See it at the Ukrainian Musuem in New York till July 6. Now we will be working on our new Koliada theatre piece Winter Light.

Save the date to see it at La MaMa December 26-28, 2014.Take a look at our newsletter, where you can catch up with us and learn more about our projects for the summer. Please help us continue our work with a gift.

Donations from individual donors, like you, help us create splendid events in New York, Ukraine and around the world. A gift of $60 pays for copies of the script; $120 pays for a costume; and $1000 provides international transportation for one artist. Your contribution is fully tax-deductible.

We deeply appreciate your support and hope to see you at our shows. For more information see our website

See you soon
