  • CALL FOR PAPERS

    The Fifth Conference on Ukrainian Economics, sponsored by the International Ukrainian Economic Association, Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences, will be held on May 22-26, 2000, in Lviv, Ukraine. (Please note change of time. Sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused.) Papers on any aspect of Ukrainian economics, transition economics, economics of Eastern Europe and related topics are invited. Conference papers will be subsequently published in a volume of proceedings. For further information, contact Professor I. S.     The International Ukrainian Economic Association -- founded in 1992 - -- is a professional organization of economic scholars, specializing in all aspects of Ukrainian economics. Interested scholars are cordially invited to join IUEA, participate in the forthcoming Congresses, present papers at the Congresses, and submit scholarly articles and book reviews to the Ukrainian Economic Review.

    Objectives:

  • to promote the development of Ukrainian economics;
  • to popularize economic education (of non-Marxist type) in Ukrainian universities and institutes;
  • to improve the level of scholarly research;
  • to include in its membership economic specialists in Ukraine and in the West and to promote cooperation between them;
  • to overcome institutional barriers among economists in Ukraine;
  • to promote use of the Ukrainian language in economics activity in Ukraine (education, research, publication);
  • to improve the working conditions of Ukraine's economists.

    Means:

  • organization of congresses every two years;
  • publication of the congress proceedings;
  • organization of occasional conferences;
  • publication of a scholarly journal in the English language;
  • publication of the fundamental economic works in Ukrainian translations.

    Activity:

  • the First congress in Kyiv in 1992;
  • conference in Washington, D.C. in 1993;
  • publication of the proceedings of the Kiev Conference in 1993;
  • the Second Conference in Odessa in 1994;
  • publication of the proceedings of the Odesa conference, 1995;
  • publication of the Ukrainian Economic Review, no.1-2, 1995.
  • conference in Washington, D.C. in 1995;
  • the Third Conference in Kharkiv in 1996;
  • publication of the Ukrainian Economic Review, vol. II, no. 3, 1996;
  • publication of the proceedings of the Kharkiv Conference in 1997;
  • the Fourth Conference in Kyiv in 1998;
  • publication of the Ukrainian Economic Review, vol. III, no. 4-5, 1998;
  • publication of the proceedings of the Kiev Conference in 1999;
  • preparation of the upcoming Fifth Conference in Lviv, 2000

    Scholars interested in all aspects of Ukrainian economics are invited to join IUEA, participate in the forthcoming Congress, present papers at the Congress, and submit scholarly articles and book reviews to the Ukrainian Economic Review.
