I believe the contemporary artist is currently engaged in redefining his
role. Aesthetics are shifting from passive to active. And this is
reflected in the collaborative aspect of my work. It does not exist
without participation from viewers and listeners.

make Chicago a Park Place" by Alan Artner, Chicago Tribune, June 23,

I have a 25-year history of creating mixed media, video and multimedia
installations that off the viewer linear and non-linear experience with
multiple levels of content. Due to their complexity, these works have
rewarded repeat viewing, but remain as fixed experiences. Recent
advances in technology have allowed me to explore a new type of media
installation where the content is organized according to feedback and
response from the viewer. The participant, viewer/useră(v)userăcan
create new experiences for every visit through the installation. It is
the creative possibilities of this interaction and the opportunity to
define a new aesthetics of the artist/participant relationship that I
explore, using both artistic practice and critical analysis.
The themes of my work can be incorporated into viewer interactive spaces
in ways that raise questions and reveal hidden relationships. In a
variety of media and themes, my artwork addresses the issues of a
boundaryless artistic space of relationships, poetics, individual and
group interaction, intervention, technologies, open structures, large
scale, immersiveness and participation.
