If you're going from Kiev to Berlin is the best to take train. The bus isn't cheaper in Eastern Europe, and the train is better and more comfortable. The cheapest way si to buy your train ticket to Rzepin in Kiev, get off in Rzepin and buy a ticket to the next train further to Berlin.

Take the daily train from Kiev 07:50, arrival Rzepin next day 04:50. From Rzepin can you take another daily train 06:03, arrival Berlin Ostbahnhof 07:47.

The fare Kiev-Rzepin should be about $44, and the fare Rzepin-Berlin is about $15.
A reservation in a 3-berth sleeper costs $17, and a reservation in 2-berh sleeper costs $26.

The bus fare Kiev-Berlin is $59, so it's the same as the train fare without sleeper.
