" I fear not my enemies for my friends are the only ones who can come close enough to hurt me" I would be more afraid of my supposed paramour here betraying me than some random criminal. Ukraine has been unfortunate over the years but it has nowhere to go but up and while living here I have learned to appreciate the small things in life much more just because it is so desperately poor here. The ladies here are no different than the men they pursue, they are just looking for happiness with their man and a better life. It just so happens that capitalism has opened a interesting culture and people that was cut off to the outside world due to communism (maybe you think it would be better to return to the happier times of the USSR?).
: Yes, the average wage of a working person is only $30 to $40 per month, and more and more people cannot find work and are beginning to starve to death, then comes along a foreigner like me with $200 or more in his pocket. The temptation to take his cash away from him by force is almost too much. I have spent a few months in Cherkassy Ukraine and the situation is getting worse by the month down there. I have heard gun shots at night. Now the power stations are running out of gas because they cannot pay their bills, so the heat is running out and now a very powerful Infuenza epidemic is beginning to spread across Ukraine like a hand of death resulting in school closures even in Kiev. I am going to Ukraine next week to pick up my wife and bring her here to North America, and I plan to spend as little time there in that hell-hole as I can. In the future I plan to be sending money to Ukraine so that my wife's relatives will be able to live without too much hardship.
: My advice to anyone thinking of travelling to Ukraine: Don't travel alone, and don't travel at night !
