: Background: 40 year old, white male, from USA, only speak English. Mech Engineer, inexperienced in big city ways (just a country boy) I have met a woman through ________dating agency, We have been corresponding now several months. I have a tourist visa, it was obtained through “same” dating agency and will become effective 18 February. She seems sincere I don’t have any concerns there. What is bothering me is I made these grand plans to visit Alina end of Feburary, everything seemed in place, life was wonderful. Then while researching for my trip, I stumble into BRAMA’s travel tips and have just about decided not to go, I see how little I know and understand the customs, laws ect. of Ukraine. I dont mind paying a little more for safety and no hassle with the police. Am I better off in a hotel than apartment? I don’t see flights directly to Kherson. What is my best option for travel from Kiev to Kherson.
The best option for you to get to Kherson is to take a daily overnight train which leaves Kiev at around 8 p.m. and is in Kherson at about 11 a.m. I ahd friends who travelled to Kherson by car, but I`m not sure that 10 hour ride by car will make you feel good.
Anyway I would advise you to take a first class and buy the whole compartment, which is more secure in all ways. I can see no flights to Kherson, no Autolux busses, so I do believe that taking a train is the only good option.
If you have an option of staying at the apartment or at a hotel I would still advise you to stay at the apartment. Because it is a lot cheaper. That of course depends, some people still prefer hotels.
With best wishes,
