: My husband is a US citizen who was born abroad in Scotland. We have heard that if you recieve a British passport then you can work in the UK w/o a Visa and that I can also because I am his wife. We seem to be going round and round with the embassies and we would just like to know if this is possible and if by attaining a British Passport does this renounce his US citizenship or does it become dual.

Dear Jackie,

I`m Ukrainian, and from what I know that all locals who go abroad have to cancel their local citizenship, I think that mostly this happens because Ukraine doesn't allow dual citizenship, but I heard about a few people (and I knew them in person) who had passports of Nigeria and US, so I think that holding both is possible.

Of course I understand that it doesn't provide any useful tips like where to go and what to do, but I am sure that if I contact those friends of mine, they`ll give me some hints. When I have them you`ll also have them, hope it's not too late by then.

With best wishes,
Rostick.
