Hello:
First of all you can meet the guys who know a lot about these things on http://planet-love.com/wwwboard/russian/
Secondly, I can understand the feelings of her family but if you actually get married at the registrar's office in the Ukraine you have to start a different process to bring her over to your country as your wife. Honestly, these ceremonies at the office are pretty dreary. I suggest to have a wedding in the church. It is so beautiful and romantic and then have a reception. People tend to turn to religion now so I do not think that the idea would offensive to anybody. It is not a must for you to convert, you can keep your religion. At the same time you will be married in the eyes of God and it would be important for her family. And when she comes to your country you will get married there according to the laws of your country.
If you marry her in the Ukraine I believe it would take up to 6 months or more to bring her over but she would get a green card faster. I always advise people to seek help and assistance of your congressman. I am speaking from my experience. It costs you nothing and as effective as having a lawyer. Each congressman has a liaison officer who keeps in touch with the INS and would give you the latest info. Check with this office how long it will take to bring her over as a fiancee or your wife. The terms usually are different for different parts of the country. Hope this helps.
Best of luck to you,
Natasha
: No, I said Natasha!
: Anyway, hello Natasha! I understand this is a travel board but the question sort of pertains to travel and I know you have some insight or can point the right way.
: I have made several trips to Ukraine and have begun the visa process for my fiancee.
: I know her family would like to have a ceremony in her town which they can attend.

: How will this affect the visa process, like a name change and so on? If you can help any I would appreciate it, or refer me to a site which can. I have checked all the normal visa info sites without success.
: Spaceba.
