Passport type:
From a 1st world country; but visa free travel to Ukraine not allowed
Visa:
1 year business multi-entry, received in Central European capital in 3 working days for just over US$200
Visa Sponsor:
Not a company! But rather a sister of friend who was registered as a private businessperson. Consulate gave visa based on an invitation from her and her name was listed on the visa. But this caused problems at OVIR because according to them (and they're probably correct!) a sponsor for a business visa can only be a company.
Visa registration city:
In Western Ukraine
Time in Ukraine prior to registration:
Entered Ukraine day after visa became active; received visa registration 8 days later. 3 or 6 month wait for visa registration NOT needed or discussed
visa registration costs:
-225UAH for mandatory 12month medical insurance
-50UAH registration fee
-50UAH bottle of cognac given as gift once process had begun (was not asked for, but happy accepted)
-NO bribes paid
Process & time taken:
Two full days need. Visited OVIR many many many times. A visit to Zhaks was also needed. Sponsor had to supply certain papers and a photo. Foreigner had to supply proof of ownership of apartment where he declared he would live. Because of the problem mentioned above with visa sponsor, a talk with "Nachalnik" (Boss) to get the go ahead was needed; lesser ranked staff were unwilling to overlook the visa sponsor issue.
