Internal Affairs Minister Yurii Lutsenko has order early re-certification of employees of internal affairs agencies from March 1.

Lutsenko disclosed this to journalists at a news conference.

He also said that during the time of the re-certification citizens that have claims against the work of one or another police employees should file the corresponding claims.

Lutsenko also narrated in brief certain moments of reforming the internal affairs agencies.

In particular, he said that he plans to withdraw the certificates and make employees of the passport offices, medical establishments and the press services of internal affairs agencies civilian specialists.

Lutsenko also said that he plans to reform the State Automobile Inspection and fix it in a way that employees of the traffic police would engage in maintaining law and order on the roadways and pedestrian zones together with the patrol post service, and they would not collect fines.

The minister also said that he plans to liquidate the traffic police checkpoints.

Lutsenko said that he is going to fight in order that traffic police employees would be given the right to takeaway drive licenses in two cases: when a driver is drunk or the driver is involve in a road accident resulting in death.

The minister also said that he has practically completed the appointment of heads in regional departments of internal affairs agencies and he noted that those appointed as heads of these departments should bring forth results in their work with respect to four areas within two months.

Lutsenko referred to the investigation of criminal cases involving the falsification of the presidential election as one of such areas, and also bribery and corruption in internal affairs agencies at all levels.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Yuschenko appointed Lutsenko as internal affairs minister on February 4.

Following his appointment, Lutsenko announced plans to fight against corruption, and he also promised to de-criminalize and de-politicize agencies of the Internal Affairs Ministry.
