I got a schengen visa for my Step-son at the German Visa section in Kiev no problems, got it the same day. (they charged 6 euro's) Although I had to be tough with the counter clerk and threaten to see the consul as she said come back tomorrow (I am a EU citizen - English) and they had told me on the phone that same day was OK. She folded pretty quickly.
I got schengen visa's no problems for my wife from the French visa section in London no problems but I used an agency (find them via google) as it was cheaper than me driving to london and losing a days work - £35 pounds per passport.
If everythink is Ok and your married there should be no problems. But you should only use the country of first entry or final destination.
