the submarine base was in Balaclava, some distance away, with no nuclear accidents. There are numerous Ukrainian and RUSSIAN military bases here, they don't constitute any problem, I happen to live next to one, they're good neighbors. Air and water pollution is not very serious here, but there's a lot more garbage on the ground here than in America.
Before choosing a place to move come visit, stay as long as you can, the experience will tell you a lot about how you'll handle the differences here. Are you married, do you have a family, how old are you?
