main industries, as you say plus shipping, etc, this is not really a very big place. You would be unable to buy a 1/2 acre here. The unit of measure is a "sotek" which is equal to 100 sq. meters. Lots here range in size from 6 to 20 soteks, sometimes you can buy lots together. Prices can vary by orders of magnitude depending on location. You could probably build a house in the best area of Sevastopol for about 300,000 USD, but keep in mind there's no property tax or insurance, and utilities are 10% of what they are in the states, you could move 10 miles away and build the same house for half that price. There aren't Home Depots, but you can buy what you need here, the amount of effort it takes to build a house (if you're your own contractor) is about double what it would be in the states, but labor costs about 10%, the big problem is finding reliable people, be prepared for hiring and firing lots of workers until you find one who's not just interested in ripping you off and doesn't show up to work dead drunk, if you can handle issues like this you can build a fine home here.
