Yalta in general is more expensive than Sevastopol, especially for the most desireable locations on the beach. It's also difficult for some reason to buy beach front property there with gas lines, you want a gas line because it's so cheap here compared to bottled gas. The other issue about Yalta is that in the winter it's really a small place less shopping and things to do. Sevastopol has two new western style supermarkets in addition to the regular ourdoor markets and lots of historical places to visit (note: I'm a real history nut, so this greatly appeals to me). On a plus side Yalta is slightly warmer than Sevastopol because the mountains block the northern winds. Right now I think the market is near the top, the best way to if you're going to live here is build your own house, even so far as to be your own contractor (you will need a local person whom you can trust to help you, in my case it was my wife), using this approach you can cut the costs of a house in half, but you really have to know what you're doing. If you don't mind living away from a big city you can buy some dachas for about 3,000 USD, buy a couple next to each other like we did, now you have a farm, build a stone house, ours is huge, our total investment was about 30,000 USD for a huge house on a pretty big piece of land about 30 miles from Sevastopol
