: : n/t
: There is no private ownership of land in the Ukraine. My friends, who are American citizens now, bought an apartment in Yalta last year and spend half a year in Florida and half a year in Yalta. I sent an e-mail to them asking for info.

: : : I have been told by several people a foreigner can own the house but not the land

: :
: : : : I had been living in Yalta for 27 years and moved to the States recently. I will be glad to help you. When buying the real estate in Yalta it is very important to know the area. The town proper is very small and anything which is called Greater Yalta and outside Yalta is actually half the price.

Yes, Ukrainian citizens can own land, rent it out, lease it etc etc etc. Thay can do anything but sell it. Don't ask me why. So the land can only be purchased from the government. If a Ukrainian citizen owns the house he/she can own the land as well, however a foregner cannot own the land, but they can own the house. Now please note that this is only for the land that's not in Urban areas. Ie this doesn't work in Kiev for example. Thay have a different law for that and I dont' remember what it says exactly, but i believe it's something like foregners can own land in the cities, but with a twist and I don't remember what it is. I believe they only started doing this in the spring, so it's pretty new.
