As you might have read below in my account of my trip to Ukraine from the UK. This UK guy Karl lives in Uzgorord and knowing I was travelling to Ukraine asked if I would carry personal items for him. He paid I said OK. The back of my estate was filled with many boxes of personal items, crockery, cd's, tools, books clothes, etc. And at the customs at Uzgorod they only gave them are cursory look when we told them they were personal items.
So in my experience you can take in what you like as long as it is for personal use.
