I liked Odessa too, I walked for miles upon the waterfront and poked my nose into the navy base, be bold , be not timid, go forth!explore
However at 500 a night the HOTEL ODESSA on the pier is a bit over the top. So I stayed at Hotel, Tats for 3 a night
Odessa is the most westernised of the Southern towns.
Go a few blocks back , prices are zilch and the natives beat not the tom toms
