Your experience and perspective is appreciated on this board. I, however, have a slightly different perspective from my (limited) travels in Ukraine. Having travelled somewhat extensively in third-world countries, I found Ukraine to be simply delightful. The people were (by and large) quite wonderful. The conditions were actually better than my expectations, and I marvelled at the ability of the local residents to cope with 'inconveniences'. I've not travelled with a tour group, however, I can imagine the logistical nightmares a group operator must deal with.
I do not wish to cast asperations upon your impressions, however, I must ask if possibly your expectations might not have been too high?
