Rather than simply trusting why don't you try doing the minimum research into the matter? Start here:

http://www.usemb.kiev.ua/visa_faq_eng.html

And did you ask your friend the simple, obvious questions about what the money will be used for?

I can tell you that it is virtually impossible for a young, single Ukrainian to obtain a US visa unless they can show proof of extremely strong ties (business, family, etc.) to Ukraine that will serve to gaurantee that they will return there.

I would be extreemely cautious unless you just have $200 to burn. There is an excellent chance you're getting scammed.

: I am contemplating helping an online Ukrainian friend come to visit America. He needs a new passport and indicated that it would take 4 months, and $200 American.

: I want to be an optimist and trust him, but this seems unrealistic to me.

: Can someone here clue me in? Thanks in advance.
