Having spent hours planning, shopping, and packing up numerous parcels for my relatives and friends in Ukraine for Christmas,I realised that sending some 14 'Small Packets' by airmail was going to prove extremely costly (max weight 2kgs per packet £9.50)and a large transportation job to the Post Office.

Not having Meest here, I asked Bob Sopel if they knew how Ukrainians in the north of England sent their parcels and they recommended a company (e-mail if you want their name - don't want to offend anyone by advertising her!) who might do this.

I have spoken to them this morning - they will collect next Monday and deliver to Lviv by the 20 December - perfect! Best thing though is the cost - £1.20 per kilo and £6.50 per parcel, which means I can pack everything into one or two large cartons.I will now spend the rest of the week ripping apart all my small boxes (some of which I am sure weigh over 2kg) and repacking!! Their insurance charge is also reasonable.

Obviously can't report on the success of the operation yet, but will let you know. This will also save my friends having to collect all these packages from the Collection Office - and means better security - now at Lviv they are not asking for identification or a signature despite at this end paying for this!
