help please re a suitable sum for prize

I am visiting my grandfather's village school for 'Last Bell' and presenting two trophies with a cash prize to the two pupils from the Junior School and the SEnior School who have this year worked and tried hard and made the most effort in their studies - not the cleverest (nd often the laziest!).

Could anyone advise on what would be a suitable amount of money to give to each pupil - don't want to overwhelm them but I want it to be of some significance to the winners and an incentive to the rest to try hard for next year!
