Travelling by car:
advice to go through Krakoviets.
You will need to pay 3 grivna (for foreigners may be more - about 20 grivna or so) for obligation that you will take your car back from Ukraine.
That's it.
One more advice - to cross the border from Ukraine to Poland is better after 10 pm. You will avoid long line waiting or paying $5-30 for avoiding to stay in line.

Well, the same line Poles have, so I think to cross border at night both ways is a good idea. The only minus - unfamiliar and not so good road to travel at night. Choose what you prefer better.

Forgot. Also on the way back you will need to pay "local fee" - for foreigners 27 grivna, for locals 5 grivna. If you have any local friend with you - let them do all formalities for you (doesn't matter whose car is this).

: No fees need to be paid. Just make sure you have a visum in your passport. When travelling by train there may be an insuranceagent on board trying to sell you a healthinsurance. Buying such an insurance was compulsory but is no longer.
