Money makes the world go round. Not petty politics.

I would not consider it a few dollars when you multiply it by a few hundred thousand tourists.

How many times did you say that you visited Ukraine since 1998?
Now multiply that by the cost of a visa (around $100 dollars). And what did you get for your money? An ink stamp in your passport? Oh I forgot you got the green light to visit a country in dire need of tourist dollars. I bet they were grateful for all the money you spent there! Just think they charge you money (visa fee) to come into the country so that you can spend a lot of money and help their economy.

United States and other European countries require visas to control and limit the flow of people looking for a better life.
If you read some of the current population statistics of Ukraine you will see that the population is declining. Besides a declining birthrate since 1990, a major factor is the number of people leaving Ukraine to find work in other countries.

As for changes, they have been coming very slowly. Don’t take my word for it, talk to the people in Ukraine. Sure their are more foreign products available in Ukraine today than five years ago. Everywhere you go today in Ukraine you can see advertisements for Coca Cola, Marlboro cigarettes, and other American products. Most people can’t afford to purchase them. I would not call this change significant.

Next time you visit Ukraine Dan, ask some Ukrainian citizens there about “change”.

Besides the availability of foreign products and the renovations being done in most cities,
I haven’t seen that much change. And from the Ukrainians I spoke to they’re not very happy with the current state of the economy or the few changes that have occurred over the past ten years.
