: Ok, if to say that trains are dangeous in general.
: Even within Ukraine even without "mafia" of 3-5 people.
: In platskart e.g., somebody can pick up your shose of jacket on the way to get off the train somewere in the middle of the nowhere at night while you are sleeping or away to the tiolet.
: Or on the way passing platskart (or even mean to do this) to another.
: So better secretly tight everything with laces (made on the jackets already! or shoes-lace).
: And in coupe - lock your compartment always - that's it!
:
: : Normally in the seats coaches. Since some polish conducteurs take bribes from the robbers, that
: : makes the sleeping coaches not really safe too. Depends on the train then. Comparably russian and ukrainian trains are much safer, because everything is locked up and the conducteur is not letting anyone in.
Best bet is to blend in and look like local as tourist can be spotted a mile away - they advise when travelling by train to obtain a lockable compartment. Don't look like you are carrying valuables when you are. I read about robbers using sprays to sedate / make unconscious tourists before robbing them - if female and travelling alone be extra carefull and try to obtain lockable compartment with other females.
