Ken.

I have traveled to Ukraine 3 times and I have never a worry about my safety. I have been on thier subways, trains, planes and taxis and I have'nt had any problems.

I think the biggest thing you should watch out for is the taxi-mafia. These guys hang out at all the hotels, airports and train stations and I have heard that you can have some bad experiences with them. You will know who they are because they stand outside and hassle you about needing a taxi. Make sure that you use the taxis that have the light on top, car markings and a meter. always agree on the price before you get in the car. In Kiev, I could go anywhere I wanted for 10 Hrv.

If you travel by train, make sure that you buy the first calss sleeping car. It is much more comfortable and safer.

Ken, I have always found the people to be very friendly. They are curious and you will feel like you are being stared at all the time, but it's not because they want to harm you, they are only curious.

Before my first trip I studied Russian language for 5 months so I could speak with the people, I found that most of them are trying to learn English and since most had not met an American they wanted to try thier English with an American.

It's a great country and I had a great time each time I went. so relax, enjoy and have a good time.

: I am visiting Ukraine soon. This is my first visit and I am concerned about safety in general. Please let me know how safe it is for foreigners to visit this Country. Any advise on precautions to be taken while travelling?
