...and also be prepared to have the next people in line crowding around you.

I think we're used to, when standing in line for a bank teller, ticket agent, ATM, etc., having some space for our transaction. In our culture, we leave some space for people. This doesn't happen in Ukraine. When you get to the window to buy your ticket, there will be people right behind you, and I mean, right behind you and beside you! They will be pushing in to ask questions (not that there's anything wrong with that), but, sometimes the general lineup will be practically pushing you through the window, and, everyone will know that you're a foreigner because thet're listening to your business (if they didn't already surmise that as soon as you walked into the station)This isn't a big deal, just don't get freaked out by people standing really close to you. It's the norm in any lineup ormarket.

: Buying tickets in train stations is fairly easy; but be prepared for standing in lines. And, if someone else procures them for you, make certain they buy them in your name! Last month when I was there I had somebody buy my tickets ahead of time and because my name was not on the ticket I had a terrible time getting it reissued!!
