Visas to Ukraine?

I will be leaving for the Ukraine on Aug 22. I'm just concerned that if I may have problems getting my visa on time! I mailed it to the Ukraine Embassy in Ottawa. I was thorough in answering all questions, therefore I don't anticipate any delays. They said it takes 10 working days. Has anyone experienced delays in getting their passports returned for any reasons?

What would happen if a person attempted to enter Ukraine without a visa? Has anyone experienced this? Would the authorities detain you? Can a person get a visa after you arrive?
