I have trevellers checks for backup but I have not had to use them.
There are many ATM's in Ukraine (Kiev, Odessa, Simferopol, Yalta) Most accept the major Credit Cards (Visa, Amex, etc) You use you pin as you do everywhere else. You can not access you savings account. To top up my card I ring home and use telephone banking. No problems. Visa offer the best exchange rate at the time. Some private banks charge 2% on top for cash transactions but they warn you before you press ok to transaction.
All ATM have English and Greman Instructions
: CAN Anyone help me out, I have never travled international and plan on a trip to Ua. I have been reading information on this board for a little bit and there are many refrecnes to travling with less than a 1,000 dollars, then there are refreces to using an ATM card to obtain more cash if neccesary. Is this the same ATM card my local bank uses? or is it a Credit card with pin number? Since I use them very rearly in the US, I am unfamilure with the proccedures, and I don't want to find out the hard way while I am travling. What about Travlers Checks? Are they taken at most places if so what kind? What about Western Union ? The more information on any of these subject would be appreciated.
