: : In the early 1900's was there an area called White Rusia? Thank you.

: "Belorussia" (today called "Belarus") translates to English as "White Russia".

: Not to be confused with the "White" military forces during the period of the revolution (~1918) who were anti-Bolshevik (i.e., anti the "Reds").

Thank you for your answers. My mother was born in Poland in 1925. My father died in 1915, and had always said he was from White Russia. They met in Germany, and came to the United States, (Ohio), in 1950. My father died 5 years ago and my mother died 2 years ago. I was a under the impression that my father was from the Ukraine, but was told it was White Russia. I couldn't find that on a map! I currently live in New Hampshire, in the U.S.A. Thank you again!
