Is is not my intention to irritate anyone, especially the Ukrainians. However, I believe the Ukrainian language and the desire to preserve it through centuries of suppression has kept the langauge strong. The language is known for its rich folk character and traditional sounds. Making it official will just taint the language and bring even more foreign elements into the language; especially English words. I would like to see Ukrainian retain its character and ethnic richness. Afterall, that is why I chose to study it and not Russian.
