First of all, it should be Czechoslovakia and not
"Czechia". The following languages were used in this country: Czech, German, Slovak, Hungarian and Rusyn. Majority of Czechs were bilingual using German as the second lunguage. Czechoslovakia did not close itself. The use of the German language substantially declined after 1945 as a response to occupation (Protectorat of the 3rd Reich.) Currently, the younger generation (15yr to 35yr) is fluent in German again. Joe
