: The fact that the language issue has sparked so much debate is, in itself, no surprise whatsoever. Of course, many 'nationalists' feel compassionate about the use of Ukrainian in order to build a strong nation state. The consolidation of Ukrainian as the lingua franca is an important step in this process. This cannot be denied. However, it will be a great loss to Ukraine and its people if Kyiv adopts a chauvinistic approach and acts in the very same manner as did Moscow and Warsaw. All of the heroic deeds of several generations of Ukrainians could simply be destroyed if modern Ukraine were to act in a condescending fashion. The narrow-mindedness of Imperial Poland and Russia need not be repeated by an independent Kyiv. To do so would only be a step in the wrong direction.

Ukraine is in different predicament, you can not make comparison. Its way out of line,do not put Ukraine in the same category,of those two please be knoledgeble of their history.
