The fact of the matter is that it just doesn't work. Take Quebec as an example. Quebec tries to enforce "French before English" and it is stifling their economy and their ability to prosper socially.
Besides, not to offend, but we are dealing with essentially a dead language here amongst all but the nationalists and the elderly (ie. my grandparents.) And while I support the idea of maintaining our cultural heritage, and indeed the language, I think that making it the only official language is silly.
Perhaps the best thing to do would be to keep Ukrainian as an official language. Enforce its use in parliament and on item identification/signs, but by all means, it shouldn't be the only official language

Ukrainians will speak Ukrainian if they desire to do so. A extreme policy concerning official status will not help the Ukrainian language flourish. In fact, I think it will destroy the dignity of what Ukrainians really want for their country.
