I agree 100%. When people speak Russian in Ukraine it is first and foremost, their personal LINGUISTIC preference rather than a political one. To address your comments, in Kiev where the majority of the population is Russian-speaking, and still most of the people have supported Yuschenko in the 2004 presidential elections. Even though these people prefer conversing in Russian, their primary (and in many times only) allegiance is to Ukraine, and these people are proud Ukrainians first and above all.
