As America celebrates St Patrick's day 2000, one has to reflect on what other nations's diaspora have done for their homelands. The answer for nations such as Israel, Greece, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Taiwan and many others is quite obvious.
Almost every American has a second homeland for which he roots and cares. Most provide substantial support and assistance. We as Ukrainians must try to overlook the aspects of Ukrainian life, politics, and culture that often make us turn away from Ukraine. Most of the people there are not at fault and the ones that are will eventually learn that they have nowhere to hide if they want a nation they can live in.
