: There's plenty of folks in America and elsewhere in the West who care and have the motivation and resources to deal with the problem. ... Human being are not respected and considered important here, the attitude here if something bad happens is, "so what".

a) ... who care and have the motivation - America and the West benefit from the problem (this you are unwilling to accept but it is true). Yes, they could help eradicate the problem/s but it is based on poverty and greed, which are extremely difficult, perhaps even impossible to eradicate. You lived a sheltered existence in America, cocooned, even when sent off into war, from the tragedies, disasters, hunger, pain, and suffering that the majority of human beings endure in their daily lives.
b) Welcome to the real world where all of life is held cheaply. Even in US, life is held cheap - witness the deaths from Hurricane Katrina.
c) "so what" attitude is stoicism not disregard.
d) "but I'm telling you children are dying here, children are being sold here, children are being starved, abused, on a massive scale and it seems to me like no one really gives a damn." - you could be talking about anywhere in the world - welcome to the real world where the only predator of man is man.
e) time and time again, as soon as discussions stop being Ukraine bashing you duck and run for cover. So how heart felt are you? You want to hold on to your anger and disgust, and refuse to feel compassion. Instead you maintain your defences by trying to keep it to "only in Ukraine" perspective which is b.s.
