You're absolutely it is a work in progress. Many things are still need to be done in Ukraine for it to become a true democracy. However as I have mentioned before Ukraine is a pluralistic, multi-lingiual as well multi-ethnic society. This needs to be acknowledged and celebrated. Hardcore nationalism that only acknowlegdes the majority to the exclusion of all others should not have a place in the country.
Also if Ukraine will succeed it will induce democratic changes in Russia as well. Russians are not unlike Ukrainians in many regards and there is only that much they can take. Especially if they see that Ukraine is doing well than they will have another reason to bring about democratic changes there.

: Of course combatting bigotry should be strived towards as well as combatting corruption, having transparency, delaing with AIDS situation, etc. etc.

: Towards a brighter and better future and that is the TRUE spirit of the Orange Revolution as well as standing up to a government - even with the fear of reprisals - special forces breaking up the opposition. Numerous people voted for Yushchenko not for themselves but for their children and their grandchildren. Enough was enough. It is up to those elected to justify the faith that those who voted in them showed. And if not - vote them out.

: And I hope to see in future everywhere not only in 2008 - in Russia - that eveyday people will effect change and move closer towards a free and democratic society.
