Do not use lemon juice or vinegar that is not the real thing. Although the soup itself will be not so red. And definatelly NO carrots, they f*ck up the taste.
You can use any meat(or beans instead) except pork, unless you're making schi with beets.
When serving add choped parsley and garlic crushed with or without small chunks salo or bacon.
