I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience in Ukraine. Unfortunately, Ukraine law is clear in that the maximum amount of cash you may take with you when you leave the country is 1,000 USD. This DOES make it VERY inconvenient to leave from Ukraine to travel to another country especially if it's another FSU country, which generally are cash based. Since the removal of visa's to Ukraine a lot more people are coming here who are less aquainted with Ukraine's laws, and assume that Ukraine is just like other countries in Europe, you learned the hard way that it isn't. It's unfortunate that innocent people such as yourself end up becoming victims, you aren't the first one and you're likely to not be the last, I hope people who travel here take the time to familiarise themselves with Ukrainian laws, learn from Michel's misfortune.
