Although Zinchenko and others have made "blanket" statements and specifically targeted individual names in their accusations - there is not even a single concrete example of what they are accusing these people of - I hope they get sued for either slander or libel. This is a power struggle and often is exhibited in coalition governments. Just take a gander at Italian politics. During times of crisis people come together and then later it they have falling outs because of differences in opinion. The problem here is that Zinchenko is fighting dirty and I am not surprised - he was a member of the SDPU(u), the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united) under Medvechuk (the party which supported Yanukovych) and worked under Kuchma - until he fell out with Kuchma and joined Yushchenko. Now he is moving on yet again.
KYIV - The Our Ukraine People's Union party believes that accusations
brought by former State Secretary Oleksandr Zinchenko are system-like
purposeful provocation. The party's press service reported this to Ukrainian
News, with reference to a joint meeting of the party and the party group at
the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Our Ukraine People's Union believes that the purpose behind
Zinchenko's accusations was to create a system crisis of authority in
Ukraine.
"We warn all political powers that any cooperation with Oleksandr
Zinchenko will make their relations with the party impossible," the
statement reads.
According to the party, Zinchenko has become an instrument in hands of
destructive powers, whose efforts are aimed at the split of the President's
team; and he put his own ambitions over the state interests. "Do not fall
for cheap tricks and orient at the people's President's and his party Our
Ukraine People's Union," the party calls on its electorate.
As Ukrainian News reported earlier, on Monday, September 5, Zinchenko
levied corruption charges against Secretary of the National Security and
Defense Council Petro Poroshenko and First Assistant to the President
Oleksandr Tretiakov and called on the president to dismiss them.
He also accused MP, deputy chairman of the Our Ukraine People's Union
council Mykola Martynenko of corruption. Besides, Zinchenko believes that
Our Ukraine People's Union party was created as a cover for using
administrative pressure.
Yuschenko accepted Zinchenko's resignation from the post of state
secretary on Saturday, September 3.
